Foregenix only utilises trainers with extensive real-world experience, both in-the-field and in presenting and delivering training.
The training team is currently comprised of two trainers, namely Philip Whitaker and Andrew Henwood. Their respective biography's are presented below:
Philip Whittaker works for Foregenix. Philip Whittaker has over 10 years experience within the information security arena and most recently held a position that involved delivering payment security training behalf of Visa International.
Philip's entry into payment card security began working as an Information Security Manager prior to the consolidation of standards that lead to the creation of PCI DSS. Following the inception of the PCI DSS, Philip became a QSA and was able to work with card schemes to develop special classifications for Service Providers and performed the first Managed Hosting Provider assessment in Europe.
Working with the PCI DSS and as a QSA, Philip has performed over 75 assessments; specialising in large compliance projects involving acquiring banks, payment service providers and retail organisations. Following his time as a QSA, Philip held the position of PCI DSS subject matter expert within a large FTSE 100 company.
Philip is able to leverage upon his experience of governance and compliance to allow organisations to develop strategic compliance management programmes, which are closely aligned with the business objectives, whilst helping the organisation to identify their risks and the potential pitfalls in advance so that they may be avoided.
In addition to the CISSP certification, Philip holds a Master degree in Electronic and Computer engineering and is a BS 25999 Business Continuity Management Lead Auditor.
Andrew Henwood works for Foregenix. Andrew is a PCI security industry entrepreneur and is active in evangelising and recommending information security best practices through experience garnered from over 15 years of work in the field.
Andrew has been involved within the payments industry since 2001, where he assisted in developing the first versions of the card scheme security standards in Europe. He performed the very first Visa AIS and MasterCard SDP audit in the EMEA region and personally assessed over 80% of the known payment service providers in the UK. He was intrinsic to the growth and acceptance of the card scheme security initiatives in EMEA into the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
Additionally, Andrew is a well-recognised industry expert and regular speaker at events relating to payments industry security as well as information security best practice and is renowned as an overall nice guy.
Prior to his current position, Andrew was a freelance consultant, performing work for the PCI SSC and strategic consultancy and bespoke training and education services for organisations, through TrustedOne. Before that, he was Vice President of SpiderLabs EMEA for Trustwave. There he had direct responsibility for the Forensics, Incident Response, Penetration Testing and Payment Security teams and steered the technical direction and all operational aspects of the EMEA company.
Prior to Trustwave, he founded One-SEC, the leading Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) in EMEA. The company was acquired and merged into Trustwave in August 2007.
Before One-SEC, he managed a team of information security consultants at a global integration company and was technical lead on a number of multi-million pound security solutions.
